Takasaki Sato Eye Clinic
The HD camera system for cataract and vitrectomy surgery is used in the medical field to improve ophthalmology.
TAKASAKI SATO EYE CLINIC opened in May of 2016 as an ophthalmic clinic with the goal of “near and comfortable medical treatment of university hospital”, utilizing the experiences of Hospital Director Taku Sato, who worked at the ophthalmic clinic of Gunma University Hospital for 20 years. It provides faithful medical service utilizing the expertise, experience and skills of the hospital director, who is an eye specialist, to serve medical treatment equivalent to a university hospital for nearby customers, with advanced medical equipment. Ikegami supports the faithful medical service by engaging in the image system for surgical microscopes.
"Make university hospital treatment close to you, with comfort"

Hospital Director Sato has picked out each piece of equipment based on his experience of working for 20 years in a university hospital.“I have an idea that surgery microscopes for ophthalmic clinics are mostly equipped with Ikegami’s camera since I worked in a university hospital. I also discovered both the existence of the camera as well as the name of Ikegami through the experiences. ” said Hospital Director Sato. As a result of deliberation with the purpose of “near and comfortable medical treatment of university hospital”, Ikegami’s camera has been chosen.

High-end camera is necessary for vitrectomy surgery
“Our clinic carries out vitrectomy surgery as well as cataract surgery. I saw several cameras, when I worked in a university hospital, and found that those cameras couldn’t reflect the scene of vitrectomy surgery. If our clinic performed only cataract surgery, we don’t mind using a low-end camera. However, a high-end camera is necessary, that can work with the change of contrast as vitrectomy surgery frequently changes between bright spots and dark spots. With the feeling that Ikegami’s camera is the top in the ophthalmic clinic, we have believed that their cameras provide a high-quality image for the best medical treatment.”

High-quality image available to be used for presentation
“Since the camera system was introduced, we have operated it with good-quality image and good form. A recorded surgery image is used for lectures on surgery and we can now provide images good enough for presentations. In a university hospital, I realized that the grade of a camera highly influences the surgery for a doctor when operating vitrectomy surgery. Once you use good equipment including surgery microscope, you can’t accept low-grade ones, as the surgery is affected by the image of camera. A high-grade camera is also essential in terms of cost-effectiveness when it comes to vitrectomy surgery and I am satisfied with Ikegami’s camera.”

The next step is an automation

“In my opinion, the environment could be better for a doctor if recording starts automatically by judging the situation of surgery without a staff, and doctors can control functions by themselves such as recording, stop, brightness and contrast with the surgery microscope which a camera and recorder are embedded in. I expect this of Ikegami’s future development.”
Diversification of image

“I think it is important to keep a record with good-quality images for consideration of the future, even though this is not an era in which a patient directly checks their images. When the times of keeping a record as evidence come, the advantage of Japanese medical treatment based on the trust relationship between a patient and doctor will disappear and documents and contracts would replace it. It sounds bitter but I feel this era is coming.”
