Sabang Merauke Eye Center (SMEC), Indonesia, Selects Ikegami MKC-X200 Full HD Medical Grade Camera

Sabang Merauke Eye Center (SMEC), one of Indonesia’s leading eye care networks, has invested in an Ikegami MKC-X200 Full HD camera for integration with ophthalmic surgical microscopes. The system is mainly used for cataract surgery.

Founded in 2006, SMEC is supported by a highly experienced medical team comprising more than 100 specialized ophthalmologists plus over 1,000 nurses and support staff who provide care to a large number of patients every year. SMEC operates 18 eye hospitals across Indonesia, spanning from western to eastern regions of the county. With its modern “high-tech, low-cost” concept, SMEC has adopted a cost-leadership strategy offering affordable services to all segments of society while maintaining high professional standards through the use of advanced and state-of-the-art medical equipment.

SMEC has been using over 15 Ikegami medical cameras since 2017, beginning with the MKC-210HD, and has now adopted the MKC-X200 as its latest imaging solution. The decision reflects SMEC’s continued confidence in Ikegami’s image quality, reliability and long-term durability, which are essential in demanding clinical environments.

Ikegami’s MKC-X200 camera head is only 31 x 31 x 36 mm in WHD size and 60 g in weight so can be used space-efficiently with a microscope in hospital operating rooms and examination rooms. The camera head incorporates a 1/2.8-inch color CMOS sensor, improves sensitivity to F11 at 2,000 lux (when line-mix is off) and delivers brighter images than its predecessor. The front panel and on-screen display menu are designed to ensure ease of operation in clinical environments. Integral tools include automatic control of white balance, gain, shutter and knee plus adjustable photometric measurement area and four-step digital zoom. Horizontal and vertical inversion as well as image-rotate functions can also be accessed.
