Adventurer A/V Maintains Competitive Edge with Ikegami UHK-X700 4K-UHD HDR Camera Systems

Adventurer A/V, a leading Taiwanese broadcast production company and equipment rental service provider based in Taipei City, has invested in latest-generation UHK-X700 production systems from Ikegami. Each system also includes a BSX-100 base station and OCP-300 operation control panel. Two of the four cameras have additionally been supplied with a VFL201D 2-inch LCD viewfinder for shoulder mount operation. Four complete UHK-X700 production chains were delivered in July.

These latest acquisitions are additional to four UHK-X700 camera systems purchased by Adventurer A/V in 2023 following successful evaluation of a demonstration unit. The new equipment will allow the company’s production team and rental customers to enhance their creative capabilities and maintain a competitive edge across the APAC broadcast media market.

Adventurer A/V has purchased many Ikegami's products in recent years including HDS-V10 and HDK-79EXIII cameras. The decision to invest in UHK-X700 systems reflects the company’s ongoing trust in the versatility, reliability and durability of Ikegami products and the ease of integration with existing infrastructure. Among projects planned for the UHK-X700 cameras will be broadcast coverage of the Chinese Professional Baseball League and Asia Winter games.

Designed for use in studio or outdoor production environments, the UHK-X700 provides the freedom to operate at 4K-UHD, 1080p or 1080i resolution in standard dynamic range or high dynamic range and standard or wide color gamut (ITU-R BT.709 and ITU-R BT.2020). Measuring 340 x 243 x 149 mm and weighing 5 kg, the camera is uniformly balanced and has a low centre of gravity to ensure easy operation on a pedestal, tripod or shoulder. Content can be mastered in full 4K-UHD to ensure a long commercial lifetime for high-budget productions. UHK-X700 cameras can also be operated in multi-format workflows. Three 2/3-inch CMOS 4K sensors with a global shutter combine to provide freedom from rolling-shutter distortion and flash-banding artifacts. Core of the UHK-X700 electronics is an ASIC chip which encapsulates a wide range of high-grade video processing functions into ultra-compact component dimensions.

The BSX-100 is a 3G fibre base station offering a coherent upgrade path for broadcasters and production companies as they progress from SDI to IP, from standard dynamic range to high dynamic range and from high definition into HD/4K dual-format workflow. In its standard form it provides 3G-SDI/HD-SDI HD output.  SMPTE ST.2110 media over IP interfacing is available as an option for use across 10GbE and 25GbE networks. Housed in a 3U high half-rack-width low-mass unit, the BSX-100 is designed for easy integration into mobile production vehicles and other locations where space is limited.

The UHK-X700/BSX-100 combination enables high frame-rate shooting at up to 2x speed in 4K or up to 8x speed in HD to be performed for applications such as capturing fast motion in sport or stage events. The combination allows cameras to be securely linked up to 3.5 km from their operating location, including power to the camera head. Simultaneous output in HD SDR and UHD HDR video formats is supported as a standard feature, including mixed sources. 4K-UHD video is available as a 12G-SDI feed directly from the camera head, enabling the UHK-X700 to be integrated into a wireless system.

Ikegami's OCP-300 operation control panel supports conventional one-by-one ICCP (Ikegami command) control and Ethernet based control. It incorporates a touchscreen LCD with rotary encoders plus an SD Memory Card slot for full camera setup and filing capability. A control depth feature allows the selection of basic, complete and customized operating access. Options include support for shared operation of up to 10 cameras.
